One position is available on the 3rd shift from 10:48 PM to 7:18 AM. 15% Shift Premium. This is a level 2 position.
Summary: A successful CNC Lathe Operator can safely and efficiently manufacture parts that meet all quality requirements. This position is an hourly, non-exempt position and reports to the Production Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: \n - Work to close tolerances (ie. .0002")
\n - Machine metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum;
\n - Monitor and maintain machine fluid levels;
\n - Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements;
\n - Edit pre-written programs when necessary;
\n - Edit program for process improvements and troubleshooting;
\n - Mount work pieces in chuck, to faceplate, or to fixtures;
\n - Pre-set tools before positioning them in lathe;
\n - Select and install preset tooling in tool posts, turrets or cutters, and automatic tool change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheet;
\n - Observe numerical control displays on control panel and compares with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts;
\n - Turn dials and switches to override program and correct machine performance;
\n - Inspect first run piece and spot check succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments;
\n - Utilize all types of inspection instruments to check work per print without supervision;
\n - Study job packets and organize materials for next order during cycles to reduce cycle and setup time;
\n - Set up and operate another machine tool during machining cycles;
\n - Set up and operate CNC machines using set-up sheets and written instructions with minimal supervision;
\n - Read CNC programs; run single block programs as required;
\n - Overcome and adapt to problems not specified on job setup sheet when encountered;
\n - Identify and share process improvement ideas;
\n - Perform equipment maintenance and tool sharpening as needed;
\n - Crosstrain on other plant machinery as required

Minimum Qualifications: \n - Highschool Diploma or GED required and related experience.
\n - 3 years of CNC Lathe experience.
\n - Possess knowledge of various cutting tools and ability to determine various machine speeds and feeds.
\n - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
\n - Ability to interpret and adhere to blueprints.
\n - Capable of understanding and following routing steps.
\n - Ability to inspect work and meet quality requirements.
\n - Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on skills.
\n - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
\n - Experience using steady rest.
\n - Advanced understanding of gearing terminology.
\n - Own basic hand tools at minimum.

Physical Requirements: \n - Prolonged periods standing.
\n - Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
\n - Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
