POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional IT, marine and fisheries services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of Environmental Data Analyst to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal.

The Environmental Data Analyst will support the analysis of ecological and oceanographic datasets to assess the distribution, trends, and environmental associations of marine species. This role is vital to understanding the interplay between protected species and their habitats, aiding NOAA's ecosystem-based management efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze large environmental datasets including satellite, telemetry, acoustic, and visual survey data.
  • Quantify ecological relationships between species occurrence and environmental variables.
  • Develop spatially- and temporally-explicit models of abundance and distribution (e.g., GAMs, Bayesian Hierarchical Models).
  • Integrate data across platforms for comprehensive ecological assessments.
  • Prepare technical documents, reports, and data visualizations for internal and public communication.
  • Participate in fieldwork and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree and more than 3 years of experience in ecology, oceanography, or environmental science
  • Graduate degree and more than 5 years of experience in ecology, oceanography, or environmental science preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with statistical programming (R, Python) and modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with GIS, remote sensing, or environmental data platforms.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Oracle
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and teamworking skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with large environmental datasets.
