Job Description and Duties

GUIDE I, HISTORICAL MONUMENT (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – SAN LUIS OBISPO DISTRICT / MUSEUM HILLTOP - HEARST CASTLE / SAN SIMEON CA.

The reporting location for this position is the facility at Hilltop at Hearst Castle, San Simeon, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Guide II Supervisor.  

This position will conduct tours of the facility, assisting in related to interpretive activities for the tour program at Hearst Castle, assisting with interpretive services for the district, guarding and protecting the districts resources, and serving in a public assistance capacity. This position works evenings, weekends and holidays and will work in any kind of weather condition with considerable amount of walking and stair climbing.

This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year. 

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.  

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Working Conditions

Employees conducting the duties of this position may work shifts ranging in length from 4 to 10.5 hours, depending on scheduling and operational needs. Employee must be able to perform the duties of this position in any kind of weather conditions. All duties will be performed in compliance with State and District health and safety plans and policies.

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
