Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Wound Care position in an acute care setting with NJ or compact RN license required and strong pressure injury management skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in the Wound Care unit serving patients in an ICU environment, including open heart surgery, heart, and lung transplant cases
• Day shift schedule: 5x7.5 hour shifts, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
• Required to float within nursing skillset as needed
• Patient ratios and assignments vary based on acuity and census
• Uses EPIC EMR for documentation
• Responsibilities include pressure injury assessment, management, and treatment
• Mandatory documentation of pressure injury metrics using Excel
• Primary responsibility is to reduce and prevent pressure injuries across the ICU patient population
• Works collaboratively with primary nurses, educators, and cross-functional teams to drive wound care initiatives
• No standard patient assignment hand-offs; flexibility required for end-of-shift documentation and patient flow needs
• Expected to cover at least 2 of the 3 major holidays during contract period
• Accepted candidates must adhere strictly to requested time off policies; no changes to schedule requests are allowed after the offer
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Returning staff must have a 1-year break from previous employment at the health system to be eligible
• Completion of pre-start modules and EPIC training required prior to start

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficiency in pressure injury assessment, staging, and treatment
• Demonstrated experience in acute or critical care settings
• Wound Care Nurse (WCN) or Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) certification highly preferred but not required
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
